landscaping, before, during and now (pt. 1)

the next few posts will show the work done over the past months on the front and rear yards. 

October 2009:

here's where we started -- a long curvy concrete sidewalk and no buffer between the house and the street.  orange lines are where the future walls would go.

after a long time of thinking and talking with several people, i finally decided the sidewalk had to go, which i guess i always knew since i never wanted it to begin with.

demo day:  one day's work, one day rental for a jackhammer.  result:  a clean slate.

In December, we filled the old sidewalk path with lights, winning Best Lighting in Agave for the holidays!  A nice farewell -- out with the old and in with the new!
